The Nokia 6700 Slide is a unique slide phone which looks to bridge the gap between modern smart phones and the older, smaller styles of technology which we all know and are familiar with.

The Nokia 6700 Slide features a D pad navigation below its screen for quick and easy navigation along with a slide down, 1-9 hard keyboard for the more in depth tasks. All the usual smart phone applications can be found on the Nokia 6700 Slide too, with links to Facebook, Twitter, Nokia’s Ovi store and a web browser all available on the home page.

However, despite having all the practicalities that you would find on one of the latest mobile phones, trying to integrate them into a slide phone setting can cause some teething problems.

The 1-9 keypad can make typing long emails and text messages hard at times, something that is much easier on a smart phone, and the D pad can be hard to use without accidentally hitting the surrounding buttons. Web navigation too can be an issue thanks to the Nokia 6700 Slide’s slightly untidy D pad.

The vibration setting is also a common thorn in user’s sides, as its aggression means it is often quieter to keep the phone on ring.

As the Nokia 6700 Slide is mainly available on contract mobile phone deals, users can often end up getting a full smart phone for the same monthly cost as this attempted feature phone hybrid.

Envirofone is a mobile phone exchange company that offers you cash for your old mobile phone. Using their service is easy; simply navigate to their website (envirofone.com) and search for the model of phone you wish to exchange for cash. If you like the price they are offering you can either choose a method of payment or have the cash donated to charity. Envirofone will then send you a padded envelope to return your phone to them free of postage costs and will test and validate your phone when they receive it. As long as it meets their and terms and conditions you will receive your payment. The speed at which you are paid will depend on the method of payment you selected.

Envirofone offers a variety of payment methods for their users. You can choose from either a transfer directly into your bank account, PayPal, Argos Vouchers, or receiving a cheque by post. Envirofone also offer to offset your mobile phone’s carbon emissions for a small fee that is deducted from your sale. This amount will be invested in projects that absorb or prevent the release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. So if you choose you can not only prevent the hazardous materials within the phone making their way into the environment but also offset the carbon footprint of your phone.

The majority of old mobiles that are received by Envirofone can be reused, which reduces the impact which mining for some of the materials has on landscapes across the world.

Article Content:
It may be a little on the chunky side, but if you’re not prepared to pay the eye-watering prices currently on offer for a high-end Android phone, you’d do well to consider this little brute. OK, in the world of Samsung mobile phones, the Samsung Galaxy Apollo isn’t in the same league as the superb Samsung Galaxy S – one of the best smartphones out there at present. Excellent though it is, the Galaxy S is also distinctly expensive (currently around £450 for a SIM-only deal).

Like the Galaxy S, the GT-i5891 includes the version 2.1 Android operating system, and if you’re into contract mobile phones, the handset’s yours for free if you opt for a two year contract at £20 a month (SIM-free it’ll set you back £225 or you could opt for a pay-as-you-go deal for about £150). But there are other allures to the phone, too. Like its wonderfully responsive touch screen: it uses a capacitative (rather than a resistive) screen that supports multi-touch – just pinch your fingers together and you’ll zoom in on the webpage, map or image you’re viewing. A Qaulcomm processor drives the action, running at around 667 MHz. That’s zippy enough for the average user, but it tends to be a little tardy if you’ve got lots of widgets open on your screen. You’ll easily get two days of use from a single battery charge-up, though.

Samsung has thrown in a DivX-certified video-playing app (resolution 720×480 pixels) so you won’t need to re-encode DivX or Xvid videos on your PC first in order to view them. There’s also a 3.2 megapixel camera, and the supplied in-ear headphones give surprisingly good audio playback when you’re listening to music, with a pleasingly gutsy bass.

The Nokia X5 handset is one of Nokia’s newest models. Neatly packaged as a small square, with only the screen constantly visible, this compact new mobile phone has a flip down QWERTY keyboard for easy typing and a 5-megapixel camera, which includes an LED flash and 4x digital zoom.

As with most new mobile phones, there is a strong emphasis on the ability to play music and connect to social networking sites with the Nokia X5. The handset comes with a music player with the ability to play all major encoding formats, giving it much more versatility than many other handsets. Access to social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace, Hi5 and Twitter also comes built in to the phone.

However, there are several drawbacks to the Nokia X5. Firstly, there is no 3G capability, meaning that access to social networking sites can be slow and cumbersome when not connected to a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Secondly, the built in memory to the new Nokia X5 is a measly 200 MB, which will quickly get filled up with just a handful of songs and photos. If you want to expand this internal memory then you will have no option but to buy a new memory card, as the phone’s microSD slot can accept memory cards of up to 32 GB.

Buying a 32 GB microSD card, though, will cost over £80, so it may be best to look out for mobile phone deals which include the expanded memory.

Article Content:
The Sony Ericsson Spiro is one of the latest mobile phones to be released under the company’s Walkman range of music orientated handsets. Because of this, much of the functionality of the phone is tailored towards its use as a high quality and versatile music playback device.

Thankfully, the Spiro has done away with the Fast Port technology which has blighted many other Sony Ericsson mobile phones in favour of an industry standard 3.5 mm jack, which means that Spiro owners can use any set of headphones to listen to their music. The phone also boasts Bluetooth stereo for high quality stereo wired and wireless playback.

Although the memory which comes with the Spiro is limited at just 5 MB, barely enough for more than a track or two of music, the on board memory can be bulked up to 16 GB with the purchase of a larger microSD card.

As with all the latest mobile phones, the Sony Ericsson Spiro comes with a camera – albeit with just 2-megapixels – and social networking integration. This means that users can share all of their information using services such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. Another big functionality bonus is the fact that the Spiro uses threaded text messages, so entire conversations are stored in order for ease of access.

However, there aren’t many mobile phone deals for the Sony Ericsson Spiro, meaning potential buyers will have to search hard for good mobile phone contracts for the handset.

Article Content:
Like many Sony Ericsson mobile phones, the Yari has a concept behind it. This time around, the concept is an interesting one which has made a lot of headlines in mobile phone news as the Yari looks to combine motion sensor technology with mobile gaming.

Although the Yari is a perfectly serviceable handset, with many of the functions that you would expect from one of the latest mobile phones, where it really stands out is in its gaming capabilities. There are several games preloaded onto the Yari, while others are available for download.

What makes gaming on the Yari different from other new mobile phones, though, is that most of the action is controlled by motion sensors, with the handset needing to be either physically moved or hand gestures made in order to control the action.

Although the Sony Ericsson Yari does offer a lot to those who enjoy gaming on their mobile phones and as a result has a lot of innovative features, the most obvious faults with the handset are what it is lacking.

There is no Wi-Fi connectivity on the Yari, meaning all web connections have to be made via 3G, while there is also confusingly no 3.5 mm headphone output despite the inclusion of a serviceable media player.

The key layout on the Yari also leaves much to be desired, as a loaded QWERTY keyboard along with several short cut buttons will leave the user repeatedly pressing the wrong keys.

Article Content:
The Nokia 5530 XpressMusic is a reasonably priced phone that features a 2.9-inch resistive screen that plays music and takes decent pictures.

The phone is slim it has a reliable strong feel about it, feeling weighty in the hand highlighting Nokia’s reputation as a maker of reliable and long-lasting handsets. Even the thin stylus gives off a robust impression.

The 5530 XpressMusic is first and foremost a music phone and you can upload your favourite songs using the Nokia PC Suite software. It comes complete with a 4 GB microSD card so there’s space to store about 1000 tracks. As with all the phones in the XpressMusic range, you can fiddle about with equaliser settings and you can create playlists. There’s also a 3.5 mm audio jack, so you can plug in any set of headphones.

The camera has 3.2 megapixels and takes above average photographs, with good sharpness and colour. Although there is no macro mode it comes with LED flash and digital zoom meaning that you can get in close and still take fairly detailed shots.

There are some downsides to this phone. It is almost impossible to type a text using your fingers; you need to use the stylus. There is no lanyard to attach the stylus to the phone meaning that it can easily be misplaced.

The dedicated camera shutter key is pointless as it is too stiff and you’re much better off using the key on the touchscreen. Similarly, the USB port cover is a nightmare to remove.

Selling your old mobile phone unit is currently the trend not only in the UK but in many parts of the world. However, aside from selling the phone to a good company that can give you the highest price offer, there are many other things to consider.

You can choose to offer your old unit on eBay if you wish, giving you a chance of earning up to 30% more than what the best mobile recycling company can offer. You may also just want to use eBay as a guide so that you can get a rough idea of how much you should be able to sell your phone for. You may also want to look at tips on how to sell at eBay effectively.

You may also decide to sell your phone to a friend, although the difficulty with this choice is how to decide on a price that will not ruin the friendship. Mobilevaluer.com suggests that one should base the best price on what is currently offered by the phone recycling companies, and add 10%. In this way, you would get more for yourself and it would be cheaper for your friend than buying a new phone.

One last thing is to trade-in phones of low value. If the recycling companies refuse to give you much, try trading it in for a new one at the company where you are planning to buy your new phone.

If all else fails, try to keep it as an alternative phone, which you may use only for sending text messages.

Despite its impressively small size, the GD880 Mini packs some serious processing power, and is more than capable of downloading, displaying, and processing web content on the fly. Mobile phone news sources have been abuzz with new details and interesting facts and figures about the new Mini. The details are out, and it’s safe to say that the LG GD880 Mini is one of the top new mobile phones currently available.

Boasting and impressive 3.2 Inch display, the screen dominates the face of the unit, which measures at just 4 inches. In addition, the screen supports an impressive 480 by 854 pixel resolution, with deep clarity and image quality all across the board. In addition, the handset supports HSDPA and maximum download rates as high as 7.2 Megabits per second. Despite all these high powered, high utility features, the Mini is capable of 7 hours of talk time on a single charge, an excellent return for such a small unit.

While it’s safe to say that there are few drawbacks to the LG GD880 Mini, it’s important to note that this model runs neither Windows Mobile nor the Android operating systems. While there are a wide variety of widgets and applications built by LG for this operating system, you will not have total access to the many applications built on these platforms. While some may consider this a deal breaker, the LG GD880 still delivers on all fronts, and should be near the top of anyone’s wish list of LG mobile phones.

Before you decide to sell your old mobile phone units, you should first consider which phone recycling company can offer you the best price. You can also try to look into other options as well like selling it on eBay or trading it in where you are planning to buy your new phone. However, there could still be some problems that you might encounter during the process. You should anticipate them in order to know what to do in case they happen.

First of all, if you decide to sell a damaged phone, it might fetch a much lower price and depending upon the results of the test the company will perform on your unit, you might even be offered a drastically reduced price. A badly damaged casing, a failure to switch on, and a locked pin are all possible reasons for an offer of a much lower price. Also, phones damaged by water or those with cracked or unresponsive screens will probably get you zero cash and you might just be wasting your time and money sending it to the company.

Another problem is if your phone is not listed on any site, which means nobody wants to buy it. Although this is very rare, there are two reasons why this happens; your phone is either a very new model or a very old one. In either case, your unit is very rare.

If your phone is too modern, it may also have less value than you would assume. The reason may be that handsets are sold to developing countries with infrastructure which is not suitable for such high-tech phones.
