It was only just a few years ago that, with photos or video of a new, officially unannounced product hitting the Internet, the whole world seemed to go abuzz. Now though, it just feels like it’s second nature, and expected. Take for example the BlackBerry 9670, the clamshell handset from Research In Motion that hasn’t been officially announced by any means, but that’s shown up so much on the Internet, it might as well be a fully released handset.

The BlackBerry 9670 follows in the lineage of the BlackBerry Pearl Flip, as it’s designed like a flip-phone, but still packs in all the traditional BlackBerry features. You’ll find a full QWERTY keyboard, and a screen that’s just big enough to get the job done. The resolution on this one is reportedly 480×360, so it won’t blow your mind or anything. You’ll also get a screen on the top-half of the device, so that when it’s closed, you can still get your notifications. Of course, the main stay of the video is probably OS 6, which was just announced not too long ago. The version of the upcoming mobile Operating System (OS) from Waterloo on the 9670 is very early, so even if it does look good now, it will probably see some overall changes by the time it launches.

We’re still hearing that it’s a CDMA-based device, and rumor has it that Sprint is going to be the one picking it up here in the States. Considering Sprint is still looking for devices that stand-out amongst the crowd and competition, getting a giant BlackBerry flip-phone is one way to do that. No word, however, on when RIM will get around to telling us this phone is real, but as soon as it happens, be sure to get back here ASAP as we’ll bring you all the juicy details.
