HTC’s Desire HD is a follow-up model to the HTC Desire, which was one of the most popular Android mobiles, according to many mobile phone reviews.

The handset itself is 123 mm long x 68 mm wide x 11.8 mm thick with a 4.3-inch touchscreen that takes up most of the front of the unit.  Four touch points are located beneath the screen, replacing the physical keys found on the original Desire.  A decent graphics processor means that the unit can handle a good selection of games.

On the back, there is an 8-megapixel camera featuring dual LED flash and 720 pixel high definition video recording.  Speakers are located on both the front and back of the handset; however, the primary source of sound appears to be the back speaker.

The Sense user interface includes a series of extra widgets and several home screens, which can be personalised.  A pinch motion allows the user to easily navigate to an overview page.  A notifications bar features the most recently used icons, making the best-loved ones easy to get to.

As a whole, the HTC Desire HD is a mobile that offers a user friendly, smooth interface and exceptional web browsing capabilities.  Building upon the original Desire’s reputation, the Desire HD is a strong Android offering that works well.  Its only true downsides are the short battery life and the fact that some users might be put off by its larger size.
